Anne Hathaway is a magnificent actress. A compelling and beautiful woman. With such demure and intense layers of sensualities, such rarified talents, given to us with great art and skill, revealing all those complexities, and more. Or maybe not even. Maybe we have not seen nary a fraction of the wealth of the beauty, richness, drama and personality that is in this strikingly beautiful woman. Anne Hathaway is truly someone to dream of, whether at nights, or whether within the idyllic folds of afternoon daydreams.
In Passengers, as Claire, Anne Hathaway tears at our hearts, more like chisels away, bit by bit, at the very veils of our own emotional protective barriers, and she allows us, in her beautifully understated performance, to accept a certain vulnerability in ourselves, and to feel a certain sadness, even as she herself is reluctant to fully do so. Until of course the so-called surprise ending, with the proverbial twist, that brings her character completely back around to why she herself was in that emotional state, and makes us understand why that sad remorse was present in Claire all along. This ending leaves you with a yearning to save Claire, in so many different ways.
Anne Hathaway stars in Rio with Leslie Mann, and she is awesome and thrilling as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Love her and look forward to seeing her awesome and continually great work.
